Have you ever wanted to make your own Heritage Minute? We’re inviting Canadian students and educators to explore the legacy of Sir John A. Macdonald and the Fathers of Confederation through the creation of their very own Heritage Minute-style video.

Sir John A. said that Canada was not an easy nation to govern, and that is still true today. Learn more about the life and achievements of Canada’s first Prime Minister, and explore key events leading up to Confederation with the videos and timeline on our main page.

Share your thoughts on the legacy of the Fathers of Confederation and Sir John A., and tell Canada which stories you believe should be remembered in your own Heritage Minute-style video. Get some inspiration from our Heritage Minutes, or take a look at what other students have submitted in our Gallery.

The contest is open to Canadian students in grades 5–12 and grade 5 to secondary V in Québec. There are prizes for individual and group entries.

Submissions are due 30 November, 2015.

Educators, be sure to check out our free bilingual learning tools for junior-intermediate and senior level classrooms.
